Getting Started...Again

These are questions Angela suggested to a new school as they prepared for their first coaching session. Have you used any of these questions in your own coaching? Angela, please share with all of us the outcomes of your meeting where you used these questions. Thanks to all ahead of itme!

• What do you want to be able to say about your work with ELL's at your school by the end of the 08-09 school year?
• What are your greatest assets in working with ELL students on your campus? Within your district?
• What are the existing/potential barriers to the success of your ELL students? (What needs do they have or what gaps exist?)
• What measures of success will you use to judge the effectiveness of your work with ELL students?
• In the network, we use a Venn Diagram to structure and focus our work. We believe that challenges and change usually fall within one or more of these three intersecting areas: (1) Systems/Organization, (2) Instruction, and (3) Learning Culture. As you think about those areas, what are the successes and struggles of Sequoia in each of these areas? of the district?
